Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has been granted immunity by Special Counsel Jack Smith and has subsequently testified multiple times before federal prosecutors regarding their investigation into the January 6th, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

According to sources, Meadows admitted to prosecutors that former President Donald Trump was dishonest in his claims of election fraud on election night 2020. Additionally, CNN has obtained 2,319 text messages that Meadows handed over to the January 6th Committee, which reveal communications sent and received between Election Day 2020 and January 6th, 2021.

Meadows' immunity grant comes as he has contradicted statements made in his 2021 book, "The Chief's Chief," particularly those related to the 2020 election. Meanwhile, Meadows continues his legal efforts to dismiss election interference charges against him in Georgia, arguing that the charges have been politically motivated.

The House Select Committee on the January 6th Attack had previously voted to hold Meadows in contempt for refusing to cooperate with their investigation, and the contempt resolution is now scheduled for a vote on the House floor.

Meadows has also testified before a federal grand jury in Georgia regarding his role in questioning the state's 2020 election results. As Meadows' immunity and testimony continue to shed light on the events surrounding the 2020 election and the January 6th attack, investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing.
